Follow Friday: Dropping Your Anchor in an Uncertain World

This Follow Friday is a reminder to drop your anchor deep in Jesus instead of in circumstances. Even in betrayal, delayed moves, and uncertainty, you can stay grounded, grateful, and honest - trusting that what’s meant for you will never miss you as you follow Him one present moment at a time.

Follow Friday: Dropping Your Anchor in an Uncertain World
A man stands on a rooftop above the city at sunset, a glowing anchor of light shining from his chest as a beam from heaven surrounds him, symbolizing staying grounded in Jesus.

TL;DR - Follow Friday
Following Jesus in uncertain times looks less like sprinting into the future and more like dropping an anchor in the present - choosing gratitude over scarcity, integrity over panic, and prayer over paranoia. Even when betrayal stings and plans fall through, you can trust that what is truly meant for you will not miss you as you stay grounded, honest, and aligned with Him.

We are living in a world that feels like it is shifting under our feet. Plans change overnight, people you thought you could trust move funny, and sometimes the “move” you were promised never comes. In the middle of that, following Jesus is less about predicting the future and more about staying grounded in the present.

Your soul needs an anchor. Not in a person, not in a job, not in a city - but in God.

“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.”
Hebrews 6:19 (KJV)

When you drop that anchor deep - heart, mind, and soul aligned in faith - you can stop chasing what isn’t yours and trust that what is yours will find its way to you.

Check Your Thoughts, Align Your Heart

In a noisy world, your first following is internal. Before you follow anyone online, any trend, or any panic, you have to check your own thoughts. Are they saturated with fear, comparison, and scarcity? Or are they lined up with Truth?

Following Jesus in everyday moments looks like:

  • Catching yourself when you spiral into “what if” and gently bringing your mind back to “even if, God is still here.”
  • Choosing honesty over performance, even when pretending might “work” faster.
  • Asking, Is this thought leading me toward peace or away from it?
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Renewing your mind is a daily follow. It’s how you keep your frequency tuned to God instead of to the latest wave of fear.

Stop Trying to Outrun the Present Moment

One of the sneakiest ways we stop following Jesus is by trying to outrun the present. We over‑reflect until we’re stuck in a loop, or we over‑project until we’re living ten years ahead in a story we haven’t even walked yet.

If you need to process, do it - but don’t move in circles. Set a timer if you must. Journal, cry, pray, and then gently bring yourself back to now.

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”
Matthew 6:34 (KJV)

Jesus never told us to ignore reality. He told us not to let tomorrow’s what‑ifs rob today’s grace. Following Him means learning to sit in your own skin, in your own room, in this exact breath - and trust that He is in it with you.

Gratitude Over Scarcity

In seasons of uncertainty, it’s easy to fixate on everything you don’t have yet: the apology that never came, the move that never happened, the safety you thought would show up sooner. But gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to follow Jesus with your attitude, not just your words.

When you shift from “Why don’t I have…?” to “Thank You that I still have…”, your internal frequency changes. Anxiety loosens its grip. Your nervous system finds a little more room to breathe.

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)

Gratitude doesn’t erase betrayal or danger. It simply refuses to let them be the whole story.

Transmuting Betrayal Instead of Marinating in It

Right now, I’m personally transmuting betrayal. I don’t know how deep it runs, but I know it ran deeper than I ever wanted. I still remember those two slices of pizza on the night I resigned and how wrong my body felt afterward. My landlord’s mom was visiting to take him for a procedure, planning to come back on 02/12, and I wanted out of Tampa quickly - even though it was one of my favorite places on earth.

When your environment doesn’t feel safe, when your neighbors and circles are all intertwined, and nobody makes a move, that tells you something. My neighbor across the street told me, “Get your rest, we will move you soon.” That move never came.

Following Jesus here does not mean pretending that wasn’t shady. It means choosing what to do with that energy now.

  • I can marinate in bitterness, or I can transmute it into intercession and wisdom.
  • I can rehearse the scene, or I can let God teach me how to read red flags faster next time.
  • I can let betrayal define me, or I can let it refine me.
“Fret not thyself because of evildoers… Trust in the Lord, and do good… Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Psalm 37:1–5 (KJV)

Transmuting doesn’t mean excusing. It means refusing to let darkness have the last word over your nervous system, your story, or your future.

Follow Jesus by Getting Creative With Your Energy

We are all transmuting our energy somehow. Some people numb out. Some lash out. Some scroll until they can’t feel anything at all. Following Jesus invites us to get creative in healthier ways:

  • Turn the anxiety into art - writing, painting, music, movement.
  • Turn the confusion into questions you bring honestly before God.
  • Turn the anger into boundaries and advocacy, not revenge.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

He can handle all of it. The key is to cast it, not clutch it.

Honoring Those Who Fight for a Freedom That’s Never Truly Free

As we talk about following Jesus in everyday moments, I can’t ignore the people whose “everyday” includes real battlefields, classified missions, and risks most of us will never see. Freedom is never truly free. There are troops, operators, and quiet professionals moving in shadows so the rest of us can wrestle our questions in relative safety.

Whether you understand every conflict or not, I encourage you to keep them in your prayers - and not just them, but the leaders of this nation as well. Decisions are being made at levels we’ll never sit in on, and we need wisdom from above, not just strategy from below.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
1 Timothy 2:1–2 (KJV)

Following Jesus on a Friday can look as simple and as powerful as pausing to pray:

  • For the troops who are actively in harm’s way.
  • For veterans carrying invisible wounds.
  • For leaders at every level who desperately need courage and clarity.

Pray that God would protect them, correct them, and direct them.

Closing Whisper / Prayer

Jesus, in a world that feels unstable and confusing, teach me how to follow You one grounded step at a time. Help me drop my anchor deep in Your love so I don’t get swept away by fear, betrayal, or disappointment. Renew my mind when I spiral, and pull me back into the present moment where Your grace actually lives.

Thank You for what I do have - breath in my lungs, lessons learned, and the chance to keep moving forward. Take the betrayal, the weirdness, the moves that never came, and transform them into wisdom and compassion instead of hardness.

I lift up the troops who stand in places I will never see and the leaders of this nation who carry heavy responsibility. Cover them. Correct them. Guide them. Protect their bodies, their minds, and their families.

As I follow You into this next week, let my life be a quiet act of resistance against fear - a steady, anchored “yes” to truth, honesty, gratitude, and creative, faith-filled transmutation of everything I’ve survived. Amen.

🎧 Frequency Feature: Halo

“Halo” fits this Follow Friday because it captures what happens when God’s light breaks through all the betrayal, confusion, and noise and you finally feel held instead of hunted. The song’s language of seeing a halo around someone mirrors the blog’s image of being anchored in heavenly light above the city - choosing to recognize God’s protection, goodness, and presence surrounding you, even when circumstances still feel uncertain.

Your Journey Starts Here

Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward.

These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.

There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.

Remember, this is love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Just have faith. Hold the vision.
