Follow Friday: Following Jesus at Your Own Pace
Jesus called each disciple differently - and He's calling you to follow Him YOUR way. Stop performing one-size-fits-all discipleship. Your sacred pace, your unique wiring, your path. Follow Him as YOU were made to.
Opening Whisper
Beautiful soul, pause before you rush into another moment of striving. This week, you discovered who you are. You broke the lie of laziness. You shattered the mirror of comparison. You tuned into the frequency of gratitude. And now, the question remains: How do you follow Jesus when you've finally stopped trying to be someone else?
The answer might surprise you. You follow Him exactly the way He designed you to - at your own sacred pace, in your own God-given rhythm, on the path He carved specifically for your feet.
Beautiful Souls,
We talk a lot about following Jesus. But here's what we rarely discuss: Jesus never called His disciples to follow Him the same way.
Peter was impulsive - the first to leap out of the boat, the first to speak, the first to swing a sword. John was contemplative - leaning close, observing, writing poetry about light and love decades later. Matthew was methodical - a tax collector who kept records, who organized, who documented. Thomas needed proof - he asked questions, he needed to see and touch before he believed.
Same Jesus. Same invitation. Completely different responses.
And Jesus honored every single one of them.
This week, we've been on a journey of self-discovery. On Monday, you learned your sacred wiring - the way God specifically designed you to process, decide, and move through the world. On Tuesday, you broke the lie that your deliberate pace was laziness - and discovered that sometimes hesitation is the Holy Spirit saying "Wait." On Wednesday, you released the cracked mirror of comparison and chose to stop measuring your Chapter 3 against someone else's Chapter 30. And yesterday, on Thanksgiving, you gave thanks for the journey you're actually on.
Today, we take the final step: learning to follow Jesus exactly the way you were made to follow Him.
The Myth of One-Size-Fits-All Discipleship
Somewhere along the way, we were taught that following Jesus looks a certain way. Wake up at 5 AM. Read your Bible for an hour. Pray on your knees. Serve in seventeen ministries. Share your faith with strangers. Move fast. Speak boldly. Never hesitate.
And if that's not you? You must be doing it wrong.
But beautiful soul, that's not discipleship. That's performance.
Real discipleship - real following - looks like Peter jumping out of boats AND John quietly writing in Patmos. It looks like Martha serving in the kitchen AND Mary sitting at Jesus' feet. It looks like Paul is planting churches at breakneck speed, AND the unnamed faithful are praying in hidden rooms for decades.
There is no single template for following Jesus. There is only YOUR template.
Following at the Pace of Your Design
If you're a Fact Finder like me, following Jesus might look like studying Scripture deeply before making a decision. It might look like researching, praying, waiting, and gathering wisdom before you leap. And that's not weak faith - that's stewarded faith.
If you're a Quick Start, following Jesus might look like holy boldness - stepping out before you have all the answers, trusting that God will fill in the gaps as you go. And that's not reckless - that's radical trust.
If you need structure and systems, following Jesus might look like building sustainable rhythms of prayer, service, and community. If you thrive in spontaneity, following Jesus might look like saying yes to divine interruptions without a plan.
All of it is following. All of it is obedience. All of it honors the God who made you exactly as you are.
Scripture Reflection
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." - John 10:27 (ESV)
Notice what Jesus says: "My sheep hear MY voice." Not the voice of the crowd. Not the voice of comparison. Not the voice that says you're following wrong because you don't look like everyone else.
His voice. Your response. Your pace.
Jesus knows you. He knows your wiring. He knows whether you need time to process or whether you move best in motion. He knows whether you thrive in community or find Him deepest in solitude. He knows your design because He designed it.
And when He calls you to follow, He's calling YOU - not the version of you that looks like Peter, or Paul, or your pastor, or that person on social media whose faith journey makes yours feel inadequate.
The Freedom of Following as Yourself
Here's what changes when you stop trying to follow Jesus like someone else:
- You stop apologizing for your pace. Deliberate isn't disobedient. Careful isn't cowardly. Your timeline with God is between you and Him alone.
- You stop forcing rhythms that don't fit. If 5 AM devotions leave you exhausted and resentful, maybe your encounter with God happens at midnight, or on your lunch break, or during your evening walk. Find YOUR rhythm.
- You stop measuring your faith against others. Their calling isn't your calling. Their season isn't your season. Their path isn't your path. And that's not a problem - it's the design.
- You start hearing His voice more clearly. When you're not distracted by how everyone else is following, you can finally tune into what HE is saying to YOU.
Reflection
This week, you've done the hard work of self-discovery. You know your wiring. You've broken the lies. You've released comparison. You've tuned into gratitude.
Now ask yourself:
- How has God uniquely designed me to follow Him?
- What rhythms of faith fit my wiring - not someone else's template?
- Where have I been forcing myself into a discipleship mold that doesn't fit?
- What would it look like to follow Jesus at my own sacred pace this week?
Action Prompt
This weekend, try one thing: Follow Jesus YOUR way. If you're a deep processor, spend time in extended study without guilt. If you're a mover, take a prayer walk and let your body and spirit connect. If you're a builder, create something as an act of worship. If you're a contemplative, sit in silence and just be with Him.
Stop performing discipleship. Start living it - as yourself.
Closing Whisper
Beautiful soul, the journey you've taken this week has been about coming home. Home to your design. Home to your pace. Home to your path.
And now, you follow Jesus from that place of wholeness - not striving to be someone else, but fully inhabiting who God made you to be.
Peter followed with passion. John followed with presence. Matthew followed with precision. Thomas followed with questions.
How will you follow?
However it looks, know this: Jesus isn't asking you to follow like anyone else. He's asking you to follow like YOU. And when you do - when you bring your whole, authentic, uniquely-wired self to His invitation - that's when discipleship becomes not a burden, but a joy.
Follow Him, beautiful soul. At your pace. In your way. On your path.
He's already walking with you.

Your Journey Starts Here
Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward.
These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.
There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
Remember, this is love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Just have faith. Hold the vision.
