Frequency Thursday: How to Hear God's Voice When the World Is Loud
The Restless World vs. God’s Signal - learning to quiet the noise of life and tune into His whisper through stillness, journaling, and faith.

TLDR:
This post explores how to quiet life's distractions and tune into God’s frequency. By sharing my journey and offering three practical steps, you are invited to discover the peace that arises when listening for His whisper.

The Restless World vs. God’s Signal

Beautiful souls, yesterday, I shared about the true cost of numbing emotional pain. Today, let’s shift focus to the profound peace available when we intentionally tune our lives to God's frequency.

Noise is anything that pulls us from our spiritual baseline: phones, tv, endless grind, or even the nagging inner critic trying to write our future. For me, it was anxiety and a thousand distractions that kept me disconnected. When we live in static, our lives mirror chaos. Yet God’s signal is always present, always broadcasting. Only we can choose to adjust our dial.

"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10

My Moment of Tuning In

There was a specific moment when everything shifted. I chose to see every event as a lesson, stopped feeding my mind with outrage, and grounded myself - barefoot, sitting still with the earth. One evening, under the stars, I felt a wave of love rise within me, a peace independent of my circumstances. Silence made me whole. God’s voice is rarely a roar; it’s a gentle pulse, a steady nudge in the heart that whispers, “This is the way.”

Three Ways to Tune Your Frequency

The enemy does not need to destroy us if he can simply distract us. Here are three simple ways to make space for God’s voice today:

Anchor Yourself With Breath

Find a quiet place for three minutes. Pay attention only to your breaths, letting each inhale and exhale settle you. Breath is the tuner for the soul, returning you to the present moment where God meets you.

I start many mornings this way - before reaching for coffee, before checking my phone, just a few moments to reset my day.

Journal the Truth

Write your hard emotions and honest questions. What am I running from? What am I afraid to feel? Empty those answers onto paper. Sitting with truth instead of numbing it brings clarity where confusion once lived.

Some of my biggest breakthroughs began with a single honest sentence in my journal.

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7

Protect Your Baseline

Remove one source of noise today. Silence notifications for an hour. Skip the late-night scroll. Step away from negative conversation. Boundaries protect your heart; they allow you to tune yourself to what truly matters.

One night I turned off my phone entirely and read scripture in silence. The peace I discovered from that small act lasted into the next day.

The Discipline of Listening

The practices from my last post - daily journaling, reading scripture, grounding, and speaking truth - aren’t flashy. They are steady. Layered together, they help create a life that overflows with love, led by the soul rather than impulse.

All of us struggle with addiction in some form, whether to food, work, approval, or screens. Addiction is anything we use to escape alignment with our purpose. It is noise disguised as comfort. God’s frequency cuts through every false signal.

"Addiction is just noise dressed up as comfort."

Overflowing with love means patience in traffic, kindness to a stranger, gentleness with ourselves. It is leading with peace instead of pride. That is the fruit of alignment.

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
John 10:27

Reflection and Engagement

Take a few minutes to reflect:

  • What is the loudest source of noise in my life right now?
  • What is one small practice I can commit to this week for stillness?
  • When was the last time I felt whole without needing anything external?
"Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
Romans 10:17

If today feels messy, heavy, or impossibly loud, know that renewal begins with a single moment of quiet. In that pause - however brief - God’s voice meets you where you are. The love often sought in the world lives inside, quietly waiting in the spaces we create for it. When you linger in stillness, even just for a breath, faith begins to rise and peace gently enters the room.

Maybe the noise feels overwhelming this week; maybe faith feels distant. Remember, grace is not something earned but gently received. The journey to tune into God’s frequency is not a race for perfection, but a path of small faithful choices - each one making a difference over time.

Give yourself grace for this process. Invite God’s presence into both the mess and the quiet. Whenever you practice stillness, journaling, or breath, trust that you are tuning in to the signal of peace He offers and moving closer to your truest self.

Before you go:
What step will you take this week to hear God’s voice more clearly?
Which practice helps you return to your spiritual baseline when life gets loud?

Use the comments to share your experience or offer encouragement to others. Your voice might be the hope someone needs today.

Let’s keep returning to the quiet together - faithful, gentle, and ready for the possibility waiting in the stillness.

With love and truth,
Eugene 💚
