Frequency Thursday: Let Go and Let God
Overthinking drains your energy, but surrender restores your spirit. Let go of what you cannot control and let God guide your steps into peace.
Today’s Whisper in One Breath
Beautiful souls, the noise of overthinking may drain your energy, but surrender restores your spirit. Let go of what you cannot control, and let God steady your steps.
The Weight of Overthinking
Overthinking creeps in quietly, often disguised as “responsibility” or “preparation.” For me, it shows up in relationships, in work, and in thoughts about the future. Sales can be unforgiving - the constant replaying of conversations, the “what ifs,” the planning for every possible outcome. Add to that the weight of emotions from a life filled with loss and painful lessons, and the noise can become overwhelming.
But here’s what I’ve learned: overthinking doesn’t give me more control. It only robs me of energy. Even with a full night’s sleep, I wake up feeling drained when my mind has been running all night.
Jesus said it clearly:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)
Lessons From My Past
There was a time in my life when I thought control was the answer. I was the owner-operator of a large restaurant chain and ran a business selling and installing storm shelters. On the outside, it looked like success. But behind the curtain, I was in active addiction - clinging tightly to control while everything was crumbling around me.
I tried to control every outcome, every detail, every person. And I failed miserably. That season broke my spirit. It was painful in ways I wouldn’t wish on any other man. But in the breaking, God planted the seed of surrender.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
The Rhythm of Release
Today, when my mind races with “what ifs” and “did I do something wrongs,” I have learned to step outside and connect with God in stillness.
I put my feet in the grass, feel the wind on my skin, breathe in the salty air of Tampa Bay, and look up at the vastness of the stars. In that space, the weight lifts. I find rhythm in my breath, calmness in my soul, and a reminder that I don’t need to have all the answers today.
Everything is unfolding exactly the way it is supposed to. My life is forming beneath my feet with zero effort because God is guiding my steps.
This is where I return to the Serenity Prayer - a prayer of release:
“God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.”
God Sees What You Don’t
Over the years, I’ve also learned this truth: God sees conversations you were not present for. He sees the actions done in silence. He sees the things hidden from your view. When something falls apart in your life and you don’t understand why, trust that God is protecting you and know that with enough time everything comes to light.
You don’t need to see the whole picture. You just need to keep surrendering your part.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Reflection for Your Soul

- What practices help you release control and let God take the lead
- How might you build moments of stillness into your day to reset your frequency
A Whisper for Your Heart
Beautiful souls, you don’t have to figure it all out today. You don’t have to carry every “what if” or solve every problem in your own strength. God is already holding the details you can’t see. Release what you cannot control, breathe deeply, and trust His hand on your life.
You are not behind. You are not too much. And you are never alone.
With love and truth,
