Frequency Thursday: When Being “Chosen” Doesn’t Feel Cute

This Frequency Thursday challenges the glamorized idea of being “chosen.” If your calling has come with isolation, betrayal, and constant study of your life, you’re not crazy - you’re awake. Tune out the noise and learn to follow God’s voice above all.

Frequency Thursday: When Being “Chosen” Doesn’t Feel Cute
Standing alone in the spotlight - this Frequency Thursday looks at what being truly “chosen” costs, tuning past the noise of people’s opinions to hear God’s voice clearly.

A lot of people online brag about being “chosen” like it’s an aesthetic - a special badge that makes them more spiritual than everyone else. But if you’ve actually lived a chosen life, you know it rarely feels glamorous. It feels like isolation, rejection, and being stripped of every false support until the only voice you can truly follow is God’s.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…”
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

Being chosen means God has marked you, but it also means this world has marked you as a threat. You are watched, studied, and tested. People track your life, not to support you, but to figure out how to keep you contained or controlled.

Studied Like a Lab Rat: The Hidden Cost of Being Marked

If you are truly chosen, your life probably hasn’t been normal. You may feel like, from childhood, you were under a microscope - your reactions, your sensitivity, your gifts all examined and poked at.

Some of that comes through people who were supposed to love you:

  • They learn your triggers and press them.
  • They map your patterns and step in right at the point of breakthrough.
  • They act like they don’t understand you, while quietly using what they know about you to keep you small.

“A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.”
Matthew 10:36 (NIV)

That’s not random. That’s spiritual. The enemy would rather exhaust a chosen one with constant relational warfare than face them fully awake and aligned with God.

When “Family” and “Friends” Were Really Assignments

One of the most painful awakenings is realizing the people you called “family” and “friend” were actually being used as assignments against your peace and purpose.

For me, that has meant:

  • Setting boundaries with everyone in my “family” because the very people I supported my whole life were the first to throw me under the bus.
  • Releasing every “friend” who seemed present but was really there to slander my name, twist my story, or yank the rug out from under me.
  • Seeing a 41‑year pattern where every time I started to build something, the people closest to me moved in ways that guaranteed collapse.

“Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.”
Psalm 41:9 (NIV)

This world is sick. It rewards manipulation and punishes sincerity. And if you carry a strong calling, there are people who would rather see you stuck in poverty and struggle than standing in the fullness of who God created you to be.

Tuning Out the Noise: Choosing God’s Frequency Over Flattery

In a culture obsessed with labels - chosen, anointed, prophetic - God’s voice will often come in quieter but sharper than the hype:

  • “Come out from among them.”
  • “This is not love, it’s control.”
  • “You are allowed to walk away.”

“Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.’”
2 Corinthians 6:17 (NIV)

Tuning into God’s frequency means:

  • You stop needing certain people to approve your decisions.
  • You stop ignoring the tightness in your chest every time a particular name pops up on your phone.
  • You stop calling cycles of sabotage “misunderstandings” and start calling them what they are.

“Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.”
Proverbs 16:8 (NIV)

I would rather be alone with peace than surrounded by people and drowning in manipulation.

Happy Alone: Choosing Peace Over Performative Connection

There comes a moment in every chosen person’s journey when you have to decide: do I want to be connected, or do I want to be whole?

For me, that decision sounds like this:

  • I prefer to be happy alone rather than used by those closest to me.
  • I choose to align with people who lead from the heart, not from ego or agenda.
  • I will not keep sacrificing my sanity and stability for the illusion of belonging.

“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
Psalm 27:10 (NIV)

God’s reception is enough. His family, His covering, His affirmation are enough. Being truly chosen means you are willing to lose the room to keep your soul.

Frequency Practice: Retuning Your “Chosen” Narrative

For this Frequency Thursday, try this practice:

  1. Name the Noise
Write down the loudest messages you’ve heard about being “chosen” (online, from people, or even in church). Which ones made you feel pressured, proud, or performative?
  2. Listen for Truth
    Sit quietly and pray:
“God, show me what being chosen really means in my life, not just online.”
Pay attention to what He brings up - memories, patterns, relationships.
  3. Choose One Alignment Step
Ask: “What is one boundary, one relationship, or one habit I need to shift to honor the fact that You have set me apart?”
Then commit to one concrete action within the next 24 hours.
  4. Repeat a tuning phrase
Whisper: “I am chosen to walk with God, not to be used by people.” Let that sentence cut through guilt, obligation, and old conditioning.

Frequency Thursday Prayer

God,

Thank You that being chosen by You is not about online labels, but about real life surrender. Today I bring You every place where I have felt watched, used, studied, or sabotaged by the people closest to me.

Show me the patterns I’ve tried to downplay. Reveal where “family” and “friends” have been assignments against my peace and calling. Heal the part of me that thought I had to stay, serve, and shrink just to be loved.

Retune my heart to Your voice above all others. Give me courage to set boundaries that honor the man You created me to be. Help me choose Your approval over the illusion of belonging in sick systems and circles.

Surround me with people who lead from the heart, who tell the truth, and who are not threatened by the gifts You placed in me. Thank You that even if everyone else walks away, You receive me, cover me, and call me Yours.

I choose peace over manipulation, purpose over performance, and Your frequency over the noise of this world. In Jesus’ name, amen.

If the word “chosen” has cost you more than it’s ever paid you back, you’re not crazy - you’re just awake. Guard your frequency, honor what God is showing you about people, and keep walking forward with Him, even if you have to walk alone for a while.

With truth, courage, and grace,
Eugene 💘

EugeniasThought: Keep Rising and Shining beautiful souls! I won't bend the knee to anyone accept God take it or leave it.

Every word is a whisper of intention, carved in stillness and light.

Your Journey Starts Here

Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward.

These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.

There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.

Remember, this is self-love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Just have faith. Hold the vision.
