Midweek Mirror: Take Back the Pen
When others try to write your story, you can take the pen back. This Midweek Mirror teaches how to transmute your past from your own perspective, rise above false projection and manipulation, and shape the energy of trauma into your dream life.
Whisper: The past happened to you. The meaning belongs to you.
Good morning, Beautiful Soul.
We are halfway through the week, and today I want to hand you a mirror. Not the kind that shows you what you look like, but the kind that shows you who you are underneath everything you have been told.
Because here is the truth: you have the power to transmute your past. Not by changing what happened, but by changing who gets to tell the story.
The Story Someone Else Wrote
When you have lived through trauma, other people often rush to write your story for you.
They decide what it meant. They decide who was to blame. They decide who you are now because of it. Sometimes those versions come from people who were never there. Sometimes they come from the very people who caused the pain, and their version conveniently leaves out their part.
That is what false projection is. It is someone handing you a mirror that shows their fear, their guilt, or their need for control, and telling you it is your reflection.
Manipulation works the same way. It tries to convince you that your memory is wrong, your feelings are too much, and your truth is up for debate.
But you were there. You lived it. And your perspective matters.
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)
Trauma Is Energy
Here is something I have learned on my own healing journey. Trauma is not only a memory. It is energy. It lives in your body, your thoughts, your reactions, and your nervous system.
And energy can be shaped.
The same intensity that once kept you in survival mode can be redirected into building something beautiful. The awareness you developed from walking through chaos can become wisdom. The sensitivity that made you feel too much can become compassion. The fire you walked through can become the forge that shapes your dream life.
You are not damaged goods. You are raw material in the hands of a God who restores.
"I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten." (Joel 2:25)
God does not just heal what was lost. He restores the years.
Reframing From Your Perspective
Transmuting your past begins with one shift: moving from "What did this do to me?" to "What did this build in me?"
That is not pretending it did not hurt. It hurt. It may still hurt. But when you look at your story from your own perspective, through the eyes of the survivor instead of the eyes of the people who tried to define you, you start to see things they never could.
You see your resilience. You see your discernment. You see the strength it took to keep getting up. You see the love you kept giving even when it was not returned.
That is your authentic truth, and nobody else's projection can touch it.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Rising Above the Noise
When you begin to walk in your truth, your frequency changes. And when your frequency rises, false projections lose their grip.
You stop needing other people to agree with your story. You stop explaining yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you. You stop reacting to every attempt to pull you back into an old version of yourself.
Rising above does not mean you become cold. It means you become clear. You can still love people while refusing to carry their version of who you are.
"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal." (Philippians 3:13-14)
Your Midweek Mirror Practice
Find a mirror today, look yourself in the eyes, and walk through these three steps:
- Name the false reflection. Say out loud one label or story that was projected onto you. "I was told I was too much." "I was told it was my fault."
- Speak your truth. Replace it with what you know from your own perspective. "I was not too much. I was surviving." "It was not my fault. I did the best I could."
- Claim what it built. Finish with: "What I walked through built _ in me, and I am using it to build my dream life."
Then journal one small step you can take this week toward that dream life. Just one. Energy moves when you move.
Note from Eugenia
Beautiful Soul, your past does not get to be the author of your future. You are holding the pen now. Some days, transmuting will feel like gold. Other days, it will feel like hard, slow work, and that is okay. If your story is heavy, let a trusted counselor or pastor walk some of it with you. Healing was never meant to be done alone.
When you look in the mirror today, I hope you see what God sees: someone fearfully and wonderfully made, and fully able to Rise.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14)

Frequency Feature: "Small Town Boy" by Dustin Lynch
Some love does not need words.
Words can be beautiful, but they can also be illusions. People can say all the right things and mean none of them. Real love speaks in a different language. It is felt before it is spoken. It moves through the body before it ever reaches the mind.
When you are in the presence of someone who truly loves you, something mystical happens. Your breathing slows to match theirs. Your heartbeat settles into the same rhythm. Your nervous system, the one that has spent years on guard, finally exhales. Two frequencies quietly find each other and begin to move as one. No speech required. No performance needed. Just presence.
That is the kind of love you can feel and transmute. It does not ask you to pretend. It asks you to show up as you are.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." (1 John 3:18)
And sometimes, the most unexpected love stories are written in the stars. A girl from the bright lights of New York City. A man from a small town where the stars still shine bright enough to see. Two different worlds, two different rhythms, and somehow, one shared frequency. The universe has always loved a story like that.
That is why this week's Frequency Feature is "Small Town Boy" by Dustin Lynch. Written by Rhett Akins, Kyle Fishman and Ben Hayslip, it spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, the longest run of any song on that chart in 2017. It celebrates a love that doesn't care where you came from, only who you are when you show up.
Let it remind you today that real love looks at you and sees home. And when you've found that, you don't need a single word to know it's true.
