Sacred Saturday: Truth Is Still Worth Protecting
Truth is still worth protecting. This Sacred Saturday reflection encourages you to ask honest questions, recognize consistent patterns, set wise boundaries, and choose accountability, compassion, and the next faithful step toward a more truthful life.
Beautiful souls,
there will be moments when the truth asks something of you.
It may ask you to speak when silence would be easier.
It may ask you to set a boundary when access has become harmful.
It may ask you to ask a difficult question when everyone around you would rather avoid the answer.
It may ask you to admit where you were wrong, change the direction of your life, or stop pretending that something is healthy simply because it is familiar.
Truth is not always comfortable.
But truth is still worth protecting.
Not because we are perfect.
Not because we have every answer.
Not because we are here to control another person’s life, choices, or healing.
But because truth is where real healing begins.
Stand Firm, Stay Soft
There is a difference between standing firm and becoming hard.
Standing firm means refusing to betray what you know is right just to keep people comfortable.
It means saying no when no is the honest answer.
It means acknowledging harm without turning your heart into a weapon.
It means choosing accountability over image.
It means protecting your peace without wishing destruction on anyone else.
Beautiful souls, stand ten toes down in truth.
But remember: truth does not need fear to make it powerful.
Truth does not need cruelty to make it clear.
Truth becomes life-giving when it protects people, honors dignity, invites accountability, and brings us closer to God.
Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV calls us to live carefully and wisely, making the most of every opportunity and seeking to understand the Lord’s will.
Wisdom is not passive.
Wisdom pays attention.
Wisdom asks questions.
Wisdom notices when words and actions no longer match.
Wisdom pauses before it gives unquestioned access to the heart.
It Is Okay to Ask Questions
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that asking questions makes us difficult.
That wanting clarity means we are ungrateful.
That speaking up means we are creating drama.
That protecting ourselves means we are unforgiving.
But questions are not betrayal.
Questions are part of discernment.
Questions can be a form of care.
Questions can help us understand whether a situation is honest, safe, reciprocal, and aligned with the life God is calling us to live.
You are allowed to ask:
Does this person’s behavior match their words?
Do they respect my boundaries?
Can they tell the truth when it costs them something?
Do they make room for repair when harm has happened?
Do I leave this connection feeling grounded and free - or pressured, confused, and diminished?
You may not receive every answer immediately.
But you can still pay attention to patterns.
Beautiful souls, do not ignore what repeatedly asks you to abandon yourself.
Truth Is a Pattern
Anyone can say the right words for a moment.
Anyone can offer a beautiful explanation.
Anyone can promise change while avoiding the work that change requires.
Truth is not only what someone says when things are easy.
Truth is what they consistently live when honesty costs them something.
It is what they do when you set a boundary.
It is how they respond when they have caused harm.
It is whether they make room for your voice or only make room for your agreement.
It is whether their care remains present when no one is watching.
This is not an invitation to judge everyone harshly.
We all fall short.
We all have moments where fear, pride, exhaustion, or immaturity affects how we show up.
But there is a difference between a person who is willing to acknowledge harm and grow, and a person who repeatedly uses denial, deflection, secrecy, or blame to avoid responsibility.
A safe relationship does not require perfection.
It requires truth.
Discernment Protects the Sacred
Your peace is sacred.
Your body is sacred.
Your time is sacred.
Your work is sacred.
Your heart is sacred.
The life God entrusted to you is not something to hand over carelessly to people, patterns, or spaces that continually pull you away from health and truth.
Ephesians 5:11 NIV tells us not to participate in fruitless deeds of darkness, but instead to expose them.
Exposing what is harmful does not always mean making a public announcement.
Sometimes it means naming the truth privately.
Sometimes it means documenting what happened.
Sometimes it means speaking with a trusted friend, therapist, pastor, advocate, or professional.
Sometimes it means stepping back.
Sometimes it means deciding that someone can no longer have the same level of access to you.
Distance is not always anger.
Distance can be discernment.
Distance can be a boundary.
Distance can be the space you need to hear God clearly again.
Course Correction Is Still Possible
Truth is not here to shame us.
Truth is here to free us.
Every one of us has places where we can take more responsibility, make a better choice, apologize sincerely, seek help, tell the truth, and change direction.
Course correction is possible.
It begins when we stop defending the version of ourselves that caused harm and start becoming the version willing to repair it.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV reminds us that Scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that God’s people may be equipped for every good work.
Correction is not condemnation.
Correction is an invitation.
It is God saying: You do not have to keep walking this way. There is a better path.
And beautiful souls, that invitation belongs to all of us.
Not just the people who hurt us.
Us, too.

“Fly” - Nicki Minaj feat. Rihanna
First of all, another week, another playlist selection featuring two ridiculously beautiful women. Coincidence? I think not.
But beyond the obvious visual excellence of Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, “Fly” has been a personal soundtrack for me because it does not pretend that strength means you never felt the storm.
It holds the tension of grief, criticism, pressure, disappointment, and the determination to keep rising anyway. The chorus declares a purpose to win, fight, conquer, thrive, survive, prosper, rise, and fly - a resilient message that fits this Sacred Saturday reminder that truth is still worth protecting.
Beautiful souls, there are times when life tries to box you into a version of yourself that is smaller than your calling.
People may misunderstand you.
Circumstances may pressure you.
Old fears may try to convince you to shrink.
But you are not required to become bitter in order to become strong.
You are not required to make every hard moment your identity.
You are not required to surrender your truth just because someone else is uncomfortable with it.
I did not come this far to live beneath what God called me to rise above.
This song reminds me that resilience is not always loud. Sometimes it is getting out of bed. Sometimes it is setting the boundary. Sometimes it is being honest. Sometimes it is forgiving yourself for how long it took to choose peace.
And sometimes it is simply refusing to let the darkest chapter become the last chapter.
So today, let this be your reminder:
You are allowed to protect what is sacred.
You are allowed to ask hard questions.
You are allowed to course-correct with courage.
You are allowed to rise without asking permission from the people who benefited from you staying small.
Frequency reminder:
Keep your heart soft, your boundaries clear, and your eyes on the light. You were not made merely to survive the storm - you were made to rise, thrive, and fly.
Sacred Saturday Practice: Truth, Boundary, Next Step
Set aside a few quiet minutes today. Take a deep breath, then write without judgment:
- What truth have I been avoiding because it is inconvenient or uncomfortable?
- What pattern is asking me to slow down, ask questions, or seek wise support?
- Where do my words and actions need to come back into alignment?
- What boundary would protect my peace without hardening my heart?
- Is there a conversation, apology, or change of direction that I need to make?
- What is one wise, peaceful next step I can take today?
Then say this aloud:
I will not confuse silence with peace.
I will not confuse fear with discernment.
I will ask honest questions.
I will honor consistent truth over temporary performance.
I will protect what God has entrusted to me.
I will stand firm without losing my compassion.
I will choose the next faithful step.
EugeniasThoughts: At EugeniasThoughts.com, we believe truth is not a weapon to use against one another. It is a light that helps us see clearly, protect what is sacred, and choose a better way forward. None of us are perfect, but each of us can be honest, accountable, and willing to course-correct when wisdom calls.
Beautiful souls, stand ten toes down in truth. Ask the hard questions. Guard your heart with wisdom. Let accountability shape you instead of shame you. And when the opportunity comes to make a better choice - for yourself, for those you love, and for the world around you - choose the path that brings more light.
