Sacred Saturday: You Do Not Have to Rush Becoming
You do not have to rush your healing, force your next chapter, or earn rest by proving how much you can carry. This Sacred Saturday is an invitation to pause, honor your journey, and trust God with your becoming.
Beautiful souls,
there is a quiet kind of pressure that can find us even in seasons of healing.
It whispers that we should be farther along by now.
That we should have the answers already.
That we should have healed the wound, released the fear, found the purpose, made the decision, and become the version of ourselves we have been praying to meet.
But today, let us put that pressure down.
You do not have to rush becoming.
You are allowed to be in process. You are allowed to pause in the middle of your growth and notice that, even here, God is still holding you. Even here, you are still worthy of tenderness. Even here, your life is still sacred.
Becoming Is Not a Race
There is a difference between faithfully moving forward and constantly trying to outrun yourself.
Sometimes we keep moving because stillness makes us uncomfortable. We do not want to sit with the grief that is still asking for our attention. We do not want to admit that we are tired. We do not want to acknowledge that a dream changed, a relationship hurt us, or an old version of ourselves is asking to be released with love.
So we fill every quiet space with the next goal, the next plan, the next thing to fix.
But God does not measure your life by how quickly you arrive.
He is not rushing you through the lessons that are making you wiser. He is not disappointed that you are still learning how to trust, how to rest, how to set boundaries, how to receive love, or how to let go of what no longer belongs to you.
Philippians 1:6 NIV reminds us that the One who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion. God is not starting something in you only to abandon it halfway through.
Beautiful souls, you are not behind because you are still becoming.
You are becoming because you are alive, learning, healing, listening, and allowing God to do a deeper work than surface-level change could ever produce.
Let Yourself Be Here
There is power in being present with the life you have right now.
Not the life you thought you would have by this age.
Not the life you are comparing to someone else’s highlight reel.
Not the life you are trying to force because you are afraid of being overlooked.
The life you have.
The one with its unfinished questions, its tender places, its unexpected joys, and its evidence that you have made it through more than you once thought you could survive.
Sometimes we overlook the goodness of the present because we are so focused on the next chapter. But there is grace in this chapter too.
There is grace in the person you are learning to become.
There is grace in knowing yourself more clearly.
There is grace in saying, “I do not know everything yet, but I know I cannot keep abandoning myself to keep up with a timeline that God never gave me.”
Isaiah 30:15 NIV tells us that in repentance and rest is salvation, and in quietness and trust is strength.
Rest is not proof that you are falling behind.
Quietness is not the absence of purpose.
Sometimes rest is the most honest way to say, “God, I trust You more than I trust my urgency.”
Hold the Younger You Gently
Today, I want you to think about a younger version of yourself.
Think about the dreams he/she carried. The questions he/she could not answer. The things he/she tried to prove. The love he/she wanted. The pain he/she did not yet have language for. The ways he/she may have learned to make him/her-self smaller just to feel safe, accepted, or chosen.
Do not look back at him/her with judgment.
Look back at him/her with compassion.
He/She did what he/she knew how to do with what he/she had. He/She made choices from the information, the hope, the fear, and the wounds he/she carried at the time. He/She was not trying to ruin your life. He/She was trying to survive it, understand it, and find his/her way through it.
Maybe he/she believed love meant losing him/her-self.
Maybe he/she thought rest had to be earned.
Maybe he/she kept showing up where he/she was not being valued because he/she hoped his/her consistency would finally make someone see his/her worth.
Maybe he/she had a beautiful dream that did not unfold the way he/she imagined.
Beautiful souls, you do not have to punish him/her for any of it.
You can thank him/her for getting you here.
You can tell him/her: We made it through. We are learning. We are still loved. We do not have to rush anymore.
The Grace of This Chapter
There are seasons when God moves us quickly. Doors open, answers come, and we feel the momentum of a new beginning.
And then there are seasons where the deeper work happens slowly.
Those slow seasons can feel frustrating when we only see what is unfinished. But they may be the very seasons where God strengthens your roots, restores your discernment, and teaches you how to carry the blessing you have been praying for.
Your life is not delayed just because it does not look like someone else’s.
Your healing is not less real because it has taken time.
Your purpose is not absent because you are still uncovering it.
Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV tells us that the Lord’s compassion never fails and that His mercies are new every morning.
That means you do not have to solve your whole life today.
You only have to receive today’s mercy.
You only have to take the next honest breath.
You only have to keep making choices that honor the healing God is doing in you.
Frequency Feature: “Unchained Melody” - The Righteous Brothers
Today’s frequency feature is “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers, a timeless song that carries longing, tenderness, and a sense of reaching across time for what the heart recognizes. The Righteous Brothers’ recording is associated with their 1965 release, and its enduring emotional pull makes it a beautiful companion for a Sacred Saturday rooted in reflection and gentle hope.
Let this song be an invitation to slow down.
Not to return to the past and live there, but to honor the parts of your story that formed you. To remember the younger you without shame. To make peace with the chapters that taught you what you needed to know. To believe that there is still love, still beauty, still purpose, and still more of God’s faithfulness ahead of you.
There is no need to force what God is still forming.
There is no need to hurry the heart into a place it is still learning how to hold.
A Sacred Saturday Practice
Find ten quiet minutes today. Put your phone away. Light a candle, make a cup of tea, or sit somewhere that feels peaceful.
Then write a short note to your younger self. Begin with these words:
Beautiful soul, I see you. I remember what you hoped for. I remember what hurt. Here is what I need you to know now…
Tell him/her what she got right.
Tell him/her what he/she survived.
Tell him/her what he/she no longer has to carry.
Then write one sentence to your present self:
I release the pressure to arrive before I am ready. I trust God with my becoming.
A Prayer for Today
God, thank You for holding every version of me.
Thank You for the boy/girl I was, the man/woman I am, and the person You are still growing me into. Help me release the pressure to rush what You are forming with care. Teach me to rest without guilt, reflect without shame, and receive this chapter as sacred.
Give me the courage to honor my progress, the wisdom to release what no longer serves me, and the faith to trust that You are not finished with me.
Amen.
Beautiful souls, you do not have to earn your place in your own life.
You do not have to sprint toward a future God is already preparing with care.
Be here.
Breathe here.
Let today hold you.
You are not late. You are not lost. You are not too much in process to be loved.
You are becoming, and God is with you every step of the way.
