Sunday Soul Food: Grounding When Life Feels Like a Simulation
This Sunday Soul Food is for when life feels like a simulation. Step outside, put your phone down, and breathe with God. Ground your mind, body, and soul in His presence, imagine the best‑case future, and take the controller back one clear, sober‑minded breath at a time.
“You may feel disoriented, but every grounded breath is you quietly taking the controller back.”
There are weeks when life feels less like a gentle walk with God and more like you have been dropped into a high‑intensity level of a video game you did not choose. The inputs are loud, the notifications never stop, and even your own thoughts feel like they are running on someone else’s script. That is exactly why this Sunday Soul Food is about decompression, grounding, and remembering who actually holds the controller: you, partnered with God.
One of the simplest, holiest things I can do is step away from my phone, step outside, and let my nervous system remember what “real” feels like. The feel of grass or concrete under my feet, the sound of wind or birds, the rhythm of my own breathing. When I do that, I am not ignoring my problems; I am letting my body and spirit catch up with each other. I am saying, “For this moment, I will focus on what is in my control and place everything else in God’s hands.”
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
Breathing In the Best‑Case Scenario
Grounding is not just about coming down from panic; it is also about re‑anchoring to hope. As I breathe, I picture the absolute best‑case scenario for my life: not a fantasy, but the most loving, aligned version of the future God and I could build together. I visualize peace in my home, health in my body, clarity in my calling, and relationships that feel safe and reciprocal.
With each inhale, I imagine breathing that vision in. With each exhale, I release the fear that says, “That could never happen for you.” This is not delusion; it is agreement with the truth that God is able to do more than I can ask or imagine and that my mind, body, and soul are allowed to lean into that.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine… to him be glory.”
Ephesians 3:20–21 (NIV)
Transmuting Disorientation Into Discovery
If you feel disoriented right now, that does not mean you are failing. It means your old way of navigating life is no longer enough for where God is taking you. The goal is not to pretend you are fine; the goal is to take that swirling energy and let it move through you in a healthier way. Grounding, journaling, praying out loud, even crying it out with God are all ways of transmuting chaos into clarity.
Isolation can feel cruel, but it can also become sacred if you let it turn into a deep dive with God into your own thoughts. In that quiet place, you begin to notice which thoughts are actually yours and which ones were projected onto you by other people’s fears, expectations, or manipulation. The more clearly you see the difference, the more you can choose what you will agree with.
“We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
Staying Sober‑Minded in a Noisy World
There is a reason Scripture keeps calling us to be sober‑minded. Substances can blur the lines between what is mine and what is being projected onto me. They can make it easier for people to manipulate or for me to lose track of my own boundaries. When I choose a clear mind, I am not being “boring”; I am protecting the control panel of my life.
A sober mind helps me hear God more clearly, feel my own emotions honestly, and discern when something is off. It keeps me from getting swept into energy that is not mine to carry. When I am clear, I can say yes and no from a grounded place instead of a numbed one.
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)
One Day, One Step, One Percent Better
I have taken a lot of lumps in this life. There are days when I wish I could skip a level or rewind to before certain things ever happened. But the more I walk with God, the more I see that my power is not in erasing the past; it is in how I show up today. I do not have to fix my entire life by Monday. I can commit to getting a little bit better, a little more grounded, a little more honest each day.
You have a God‑given vision of what your life can look like: joy, peace, meaningful work, love you can trust, a body that feels like home. You are allowed to move toward that, even if right now your steps feel small and wobbly. Heaven is not offended by baby steps; Heaven celebrates them.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
A Simple Grounding Practice for This Week
Try this outside if you can, but you can also adapt it indoors.
- Put your phone on do not disturb and place it face down or in another room.
- Sit or stand with both feet on the ground. Notice the support beneath you.
- Take 7 slow breaths. Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold for 2, exhale through your mouth for 6.
- As you breathe, picture the best‑case scenario for one area of your life (work, relationships, health). Let your chest soften as you imagine it.
- On each exhale, say quietly, “I release what I cannot control,” and mentally hand it to God.
- When you finish, write down one tiny, practical step you can take this week that moves you 1% closer to that vision.
"You are not powerless and you are not behind. Step outside, feel the ground, breathe with Me, and remember: whoever tends their thoughts with Me holds the controller. One grounded breath at a time, we will build the life your soul already knows is possible."

🎧 Frequency Feature: Independence Day
“Independence Day” carries that raw courage of finally saying, “This ends here,” even when it costs you the version of life you once knew. In the context of this Sunday Soul Food, it mirrors the moment you step outside, ground your body, clear your mind, and choose emotional and spiritual freedom over cycles of chaos - deciding with God that this is your own independence day from manipulation, fear, and anything that keeps you from the life you were created to live. (Turn up the dial in your vehicle and just jam out and feel it in your bones)

Your Journey Starts Here
Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward.
These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.
There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
Remember, this is love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Just have faith. Hold the vision.
