Sunday Soul Food: Presence First - How to Quiet Numbness in 1-2 Minutes
Moments of numbness can dull the soul, but presence is never out of reach. One honest minute, a hand on your heart, and a willingness to notice are all you need to rediscover divine connection.
Whisper in One Breath
"Slow your breath, place a hand on your heart, and let numbness soften into knowing."
Beautiful Souls,
There are moments when the heart speaks so quietly that the noise of the world causes the connection to fade. If any of this resonates, you might enjoy The Frequency of Faith - Let Go and Let God, where I explore how surrender creates space for presence.
Name the Numbness
If you feel spiritually numb right now, you're not broken - you're human. Busy days and buzzing notifications stack up. Decisions pile, minor stressors calcify, and before you notice, the soul goes quiet. You want to feel God, but the connection feels flat. And underneath that numbness, there's often guilt for even needing a moment to yourself.
Let me say this clearly: you don't need a free day, a silent retreat, or a perfect schedule to return to presence. You need a minute. One honest minute where you stop performing and are.
This is echoed in Sacred Saturday - The Power of Presence and Honesty: the smallest pauses can realign our hearts.
Presence You Can’t Outrun
When we feel distant, we often imagine a vast and insurmountable gap between us and God. But this distance is an illusion. The ancient promise isn't, “You'll always sense Me.” The promise is, “I am with you.” Even when emotions are flat. Even when the calendar is relentless.
“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I make my bed in the depths, you are there... even the darkness will not be dark to you.”
(Psalm 139:7-12, NIV)
If you need a reminder that you're never out of reach, read The Whisper to Begin - Follow Me in the Ordinary.
When Words Fail
Spiritual numbness often steals your language. You sit to pray, and all you have is fog. Good news: prayer isn't a performance review; it's a connection.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
(Romans 8:26, NIV)
Sometimes your sighs are received as sentences; your silence becomes a form of intercession. If you've ever felt language fail, consider reflecting with Midweek Mirror - Returning to Stillness.
The Hand-on-Heart Minute: Your Reset Button
You don't need an hour to come home to yourself. You need one or two minutes. Start here:
Stop: Step away from people and your phone. Sit or stand comfortably. (I ground to Mother Earth.)
Anchor: Place a hand gently on your heart. Close your eyes if you can.
Breathe: Take slow, deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Notice: Name your senses without judgment - the air on your skin, the weight of your feet, the rise and fall of your chest.
Affirm: Remember the truth: My soul is the program; my body is the vehicle. They are connected, but not the same.
Name: Choose one word for the next hour (for example, gentle, steady, present, faithful).
Release: Offer yourself grace. The pause itself is prayer.
If you need encouragement to keep this practice going, read Truth-Telling Tuesday - Living Authentically in Faith, where authenticity and gentle presence can transform your days.
Over a week, two beautiful changes usually emerge:
• You gain more precise emotional vocabulary - you can finally name what's happening inside.
• Your micro-decisions calm - you respond instead of react.
A Quiet Confirmation
Presence rarely shouts. Most days it nudges.
A few nights ago, after a day full of holy coincidences - getting into my car at 10:10 PM on 10/01, the odometer glowing 101,101 - I playfully asked, “Lord, as icing on the cake tonight, could You show off and let me see a shooting star?” Nothing happened at that moment. As I stepped out of my car in the driveway, I whispered the prayer aloud.
Then, Friday night, lost in honest conversation with someone close, I glanced upward - and there it was. A gentle, answered prayer whispering across the sky. A shooting star, its blue and white tail trailing behind it in a single, breathtaking instant.
Not because I’m special, nor because I’ve earned it. Simply a divine wink - a quiet reminder that whispered, I hear you. I’m here. Keep sharpening. Keep shining. You’re aligned. I’m holding you close.
The more we practice presence, the more often those quiet confirmations find us in ordinary moments - like blueberries, synchronicities, and shooting stars, or simply admiring the beautiful magnetic fields of those around me. Blessing + Weekly Prompt
A Blessing for Your Week
May numbness loosen its grip as you return to your breath.
May the Spirit meet your silence and carry what you can't say.
May your one honest minute become a doorway to steady decisions and soft strength.
May you remember: you are held, guided, and never out of His reach.
This Week's Soul Prompt
When can you take one Hand-on-Heart Minute today - morning, midday, or evening?
Please put it on your calendar like any other meeting. Afterward, jot down two words: what I felt and what I need. That's your soul sharpening in real time.

Your Journey Starts Here
Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward. These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.
There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
Remember, this is love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Have faith - this was written in the stars before we got here. 🚀
