Sunday Soul Food: Keep Your Heart Soft
When life has misunderstood you, it can feel safer to harden your heart. This Sunday Soul Food reminds you that your healing journey is yours, your softness is sacred, and God is still using your story to shine hope into someone else’s storm.
“Your story doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else to be holy. Take a breath, place your hand over your heart, and remember - it’s still soft, and it’s still yours.”
Some of the hardest things you’ve walked through were never meant to be understood by everyone around you.
There are chapters of your life that only you and God will fully comprehend - the details, the weight, the private nights of tears and wrestling.
When pain lingers and misunderstanding piles up, it can feel safer to harden your heart than to keep it open.
But a hardened heart may feel protected, while a softened heart stays connected -to God, to yourself, and to the people you’re actually called to serve.
“Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)
Your healing journey is yours.
It is not a group project; it is a sacred path that God is walking with you step by step.
Your Healing Journey Is Not Up for Debate
You are not here to be perfectly understood by people who have never lived your story.
You are here to live your story with God and to let Him use it as a lighthouse for others who are walking through their own storms.
Your process might look “too slow” or “too intense” or “too emotional” to someone who hasn’t felt the weight you’ve carried.
That’s okay. They are not your measure, and they are not your map.
What matters is that you keep:
- Showing up for your own heart with honesty.
- Letting God sit with you in the places that still ache.
- Allowing your story to unfold at the pace that keeps you grounded, not shattered.
You don’t owe anyone a performance of healing.
You owe your soul the truth, and you owe your God your yes.
“Let us test and examine our ways,
and return to the Lord!”
Lamentations 3:40 (ESV)
Sharing Your Story Without Shrinking It
You are not required to stay silent about what you’ve walked through.
In fact, the very things that tried to break you often become the exact testimonies someone else needs to hear to keep going.
When you share, you’re not saying, “This is how everyone should heal.”
You’re saying, “This is what I went through. This is what it cost me. And this is how God and I are still here.”
Your story gives:
- Language to the person who can’t quite name what they’re experiencing.
- Permission to the one who feels “too broken” to be used by God.
- Hope to the soul who is standing on an edge you’ve stood on before.
You don’t need unanimous approval to speak.
You just need the courage to tell the truth from a soft heart.
“Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul.”
Psalm 66:16 (NKJV)
Refusing to Give Up Changes the Script
Grace for this Sunday: as long as you refuse to give up, the storm doesn’t get the final word.
Setbacks, betrayal, rumors, projections - none of it has the authority to declare your story over.
Every time you choose to keep moving forward - one tiny step, one honest prayer, one act of faith - you are quietly rewriting the script that others tried to hand you.
Your perseverance becomes a shield, not just for you, but for those who are watching you from a distance, wondering if it’s still worth trying.
You are living proof that:
- A soft heart can survive hard things.
- A pure spirit can walk through manipulation and still choose integrity.
- A person who keeps their eyes on Jesus will always outlast the schemes designed to break them.
“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.”
Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)
When Enemies Become Unintentional Allies
Here’s a mystery of the Kingdom: when you keep your heart pure and your focus on God, even your enemies end up serving your story.
They don’t have to like you. They don’t even have to repent yet.
But every attempt to discredit you, isolate you, or tear you down becomes:
- Evidence of what you’ve survived.
- Training for deeper discernment and stronger boundaries.
- Contrast that makes God’s protection and faithfulness even more undeniable.
You are not responsible for changing their hearts.
You are responsible for guarding your own - refusing to become what hurt you, refusing to harden, refusing to mirror their tactics.
Keep choosing integrity when no one sees.
Keep answering God with “yes” when it would be easier to shut down.
In time, even those who opposed you will have to reckon with the fruit God grows from a heart that would not quit.
“When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV)
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.”
Psalm 23:5 (NKJV)
Sunday Soul Food Practice
As you move through today and into a new week, try this simple practice:
- Place your hand over your heart and say, “This is my story. This is my journey. This is my healing.”
- Tell God, in one honest sentence, how your heart feels today - no filters.
- Ask, “Who might be encouraged if I shared one piece of what I’ve lived through?”
- Take one small step - send a message, write a paragraph, record a voice note, or simply pray for that person.
Let this Sunday be less about proving yourself and more about protecting your softness.
Your heart, in God’s hands, is your greatest asset - not something to be ashamed of or talked out of.
“Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Psalm 55:22 (NKJV)
Sunday Soul Food Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for never asking me to harden my heart to survive this world.
Teach me how to honor my own healing journey, even when others don’t understand it.
Guard my heart from bitterness, cynicism, and the pressure to perform.
Use what I’ve walked through to shine hope into someone else’s storm.
Give me courage to keep moving forward, to keep my heart pure, and to keep my eyes on You - no matter who misunderstands me.
Turn every attempt to break me into an unexpected blessing, and let my life testify that there is real hope on the other side of pain.
In Your name I pray, amen.
“Your heart is not too much, and your story is not too strange. Keep it soft, keep it honest, and keep it in His hands - He’s not finished writing with you yet.”
With truth, courage, and grace,
Eugene 💘

🎧 Frequency Feature: God Only Knows
“God Only Knows” by for KING & COUNTRY feels like the perfect soundtrack for this Sunday Soul Food. The song captures what this whole post is holding: only God truly sees the layers of manipulation, loneliness, and coordinated attack you’ve walked through - and only He fully understands the depth of your calling, your love, and your heart’s intentions. As you listen, let it be a reminder that even when others misjudge, project, or stay silent, Heaven knows the whole story and is still writing a redemptive ending over your life.

Your Journey Starts Here
Many have asked during my TikTok Lives how to begin their personal or spiritual journey. So far, I've explored and mapped the first three stages for those seeking alignment - the awakening, the journey inward, and the path forward.
These stages have brought profound clarity, and I'm grateful to share what I've discovered along the way.
There are still a few details unfolding, but trust that everything is aligning in its own time - and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
Remember, this is self-love being transmuted into art; growth takes time, and you can't rush an actual journey, beautiful souls. In due time, all the right energy falls into place. Just have faith. Hold the vision.
