The Midweek Mirror: Leaving Your Heart Open

Opening Whisper
It’s Wednesday, and maybe you feel spiritually dry. The prayers feel flat. The choices piling up at work or home feel heavy. You’re asking God for clarity, but all you hear is silence.
That’s when the Midweek Mirror matters most - not to tell you you’re behind, but to remind you that you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to keep your heart open.
Introduction
By midweek, many of us feel stuck between exhaustion and indecision. The spiritual fire that carried us into Monday has cooled, and the to-do lists only seem longer. Decision fatigue sets in. Spiritual dryness makes us wonder if God has stepped back.
But reflection isn’t about being perfect or always feeling “on.” It’s about pausing long enough to notice where we are and where God is gently leading.
Proverbs 3:6 reminds us: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
TL;DR
Dryness doesn’t mean absence. Indecision doesn’t mean failure. God is still present, still working, still guiding.
Ask yourself: Am I leaving my heart open to God’s blessings, even when I feel empty or uncertain?
The Invitation in Dryness
Spiritual dryness and decision fatigue are real. They can make us question whether God hears us at all. But dryness doesn’t mean He’s absent - it often means He’s inviting us to trust deeper.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Rest doesn’t come from figuring everything out. It comes from surrender.
Midweek mirrors remind us that we don’t need all the answers to be faithful. We just need an open heart.
My Story: God’s Gentle Pivots
When I first began this journey in June 2025, my vision was simple: write poems and post them to social media. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook - I created them all, and began sharing daily “whispers,” short poems I was writing.
At that time, I didn’t fully understand God’s calling. Hindsight is 20/20. Shortly after starting the social channels, I felt nudged to begin a blog. My writing grew longer - though scattered and without a real plan. All I knew was that I felt called to write, and that in writing I felt aligned.
In just the last week, another pivot came: anchoring everything I write in faith. That shift has carried me through the hardest of times. Every pivot has been God’s gentle hand, guiding me where I didn’t even know I was supposed to go.
These gentle pivots of today were only possible because of a much more dramatic turn years ago, in my darkest season. Ten years ago, I lost everything: my marriage, multiple businesses, everything I thought defined me. I was battling addiction and felt completely alone.
The turning point came when I stopped trying to do it all myself and fully leaned into the Lord, giving everything to Him. Just as importantly, I realized I needed community - that God never intended for us to walk this journey alone.
I am living proof that you can go from rock bottom and still turn your life around. The sooner you turn to Him and open yourself to the community He provides, the sooner He can begin the transformation.
2 years ago, a co-worker asked me if I’d ever thought about sharing God’s Word. I laughed it off. “No,” I told him. He leaned across the table, eyes steady, and said, “Well, God is showing me something completely different than what you’re telling me.”
I didn’t understand it then. But I do now. This wasn’t my plan. It was His.
When I look back in the mirror of that season, I don’t just see my failures - I see God’s fingerprints, redirecting me again and again.
Anchors for This Week
One Honest Reflection: Write down where you feel spiritually dry or overwhelmed by decisions.
One Open Prayer: Ask God to show you where He wants to bless you, even if it’s not where you expect.
One Act of Surrender: Release one decision you’ve been carrying alone, and ask God to carry it with you.

FAQ: Questions on Spiritual Dryness & Decision Fatigue
What if I feel nothing when I pray?
Spiritual dryness doesn’t mean God is absent. Sometimes He is deepening your faith beyond feelings. Try simply sitting in silence for two minutes and offering just one word: “Help.” or “Here.”
What if I can’t make a decision?
Surrender the pressure to get it all right. God honors a willing heart more than a perfect plan. Identify the single smallest step you could take and offer it to Him in prayer before you act.
How do I know if it’s God or me?
His voice aligns with Scripture, brings peace, and never contradicts His love.
How do I overcome spiritual dryness midweek?
Stay consistent in prayer, even if it feels empty. Read Scripture aloud. Invite community into your journey. Remember: dryness is often preparation for deeper growth.
What does the Bible say about decision fatigue?
James 1:5 promises: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Closing Whisper
The Midweek Mirror isn’t here to tell you you’re behind. It’s here to remind you that openness is enough. You don’t have to have it all figured out today. Just keep your heart open, let God in, and trust that He will do what only He can do.
Midweek, when we feel dry and uncertain, leaving our hearts open is the truest act of faith.
With love,
