Truth Telling Tuesday: Refusing the Illusion, Releasing the Shame
Truth Telling Tuesday is about refusing the illusion and letting God’s light hit your real story. When masks fall and fog lifts, you tell the truth in Love and let shame lose its voice.
Beautiful Soul,
Truth is not the weapon people used against you; truth is the hand God uses to pull you out of the story they wrote.
Yesterday, Monday Morning Grace asked you to put the shovel down and face the sunrise.
Today, Truth Telling Tuesday is about what you say now that you’re standing at the edge of the hole.
Because once you stop digging, there’s a different kind of courage required:
- The courage to tell the truth about what actually happened.
- The courage to tell the truth about who you really are.
- The courage to tell the truth even when coordinated illusions would prefer you stay quiet.
Scripture calls this “truthing in love”:
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
- Ephesians 4:15
Truth Telling Tuesday is where we practice that:
not weaponized honesty, not performative transparency - but truth that heals.
Truth vs. the coordinated illusion
You’ve seen it.
I’ve seen it.
There are environments - families, workplaces, churches, online spaces - where whole groups of people quietly agree to pretend something is true when it isn’t.
- They rewrite timelines.
- They edit motives.
- They decide who gets to be “the villain” and who gets to be “the hero.”
They build a narrative like a stage set: beautiful from the front, rotten from the back.
If you’ve ever been the one lied on, watched, humiliated, or turned into the scapegoat, you know how violent that illusion can feel.
But here’s what Truth Telling Tuesday reminds us:
The illusion is loud.
The truth is patient.
Truth does not panic.
Truth does not need a smear campaign.
Truth does not depend on everyone agreeing with it.
Truth is simply what is real - before God, before time, before your own spirit when you’re alone in your room.
Scripture is very clear about people who build their power on lies:
“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
- Ephesians 4:25
“Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.”
- Romans 16:17
Truth Telling Tuesday is not about shouting at the illusion.
It’s about quietly refusing to join it.
When shame tried to make the lie feel true
Here’s the part that hurts:
When enough people repeat an illusion about you, your nervous system starts to believe it.
Shame whispers:
- “If they all say I’m the problem, maybe I am.”
- “If they keep treating me like a joke, maybe I’m not worth serious Love.”
- “If they act like I deserved to be humiliated, maybe God agrees.”
Shame doesn’t only use your mistakes.
Shame uses other people’s sin against you.
But Jesus speaks differently:
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
- John 8:32
Truth sets you free not because it’s always flattering, but because it’s accurate.
The truth sounds like:
- “Yes, I dug some of this hole myself.”
- “Yes, some of it was dug by hands that were supposed to protect me.”
- “No, none of that cancels out the fact that I am loved, called, and seen by God.”
Truth Telling Tuesday is the day you stop repeating shame’s script and start agreeing with God’s.
Three truths you’re allowed to say out loud
For some of us, the most radical act of faith is to speak a true sentence we were never allowed to say.
Here are three truths you’re allowed to bring into the light today.
1. “What happened to me was wrong.”
You’re allowed to say it without adding,
- “But they meant well,”
- “But I’m sure God will use it,”
- “But I should have known better.”
Naming harm is not bitterness; it’s clarity.
God does not heal what you insist on calling “fine.”
2. “I made choices I regret, and I’m still worthy of Love.”
You’re allowed to tell the truth about your own participation in the mess.
Confession is not self‑erasure; it’s self‑alignment with grace.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
- 1 John 1:9
Truth Telling Tuesday invites you to say:
“I did . It mattered. And I am turning.”
3. “I will not carry their illusion into the future.”
You’re allowed to decide that the story they wrote about you ends with this generation.
You don’t have to pass it down.
You don’t have to wear it like a name tag.
You don’t have to keep living like it’s the truest thing about you.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
- 1 Peter 4:8
Love covers sin by telling the truth about it, then refusing to let it be the final sentence.
Truth, Love, and the frequency of your presence
“Speaking the truth in love” has been misused so many ways.
Some people use it as an excuse to be harsh.
Others use “love” as an excuse never to tell the truth at all.
Ephesians 4:15 is not asking you to be nice while lying, or brutal while honest.
It’s inviting you to live the truth in a way that is:
- Transparent.
- Reliable.
- Rooted in Love for the other person’s soul.
Truth Telling Tuesday is about your frequency:
- When you walk into a room, does your presence say “illusion” or “alignment”?
- When you speak, do your words carry the weight of someone who has looked their own story in the eye?
- When you choose silence, is it cowardice - or is it wisdom that refuses to feed a lie?
You will not always get to correct every narrative about you.
You do get to decide whether your life is secretly cooperating with those narratives or quietly contradicting them.
Frequency Feature:
Today’s frequency is “Daydream Believer” by The Monkees - a nostalgic, hopeful pop classic about what happens when youthful dreams collide with grown‑up reality, and you still choose to believe anyway.
Under the catchy chorus, “Cheer up, Sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean to a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?”, the song is really telling the story of a couple facing ordinary, unglamorous life - alarms going off, bills due, disillusionment creeping in. The “daydream believer” used to feel like a white knight, the “homecoming queen” used to represent everything shiny and full of promise, and now they’re learning how to find joy without the fantasy.
A Truth Telling Tuesday practice
If you want something simple and concrete for today, try this:
- Write two columns in your journal.
- Column A: “The illusions people have told about me.”
- Column B: “What is actually true.”
- Under Column A, list a few of the stories you’ve heard or felt - about your character, your motives, your worth.
- Under Column B, respond with reality: facts, repentance where needed, and God’s view of you where shame has been loud.
Let this be a private act of truthing in Love - Love for God, Love for yourself, Love for the generations coming after you.
Because our children and our children’s children deserve to inherit truth, not propaganda.
You are not obligated to live inside the story that was written to keep you small; you are called to stand in the truth, in Love, until every illusion that tried to bury you loses its power to speak.

EugeniasThoughts: The day you stop feeding the illusion and start agreeing with the truth - about what happened and who you are - is the day shame loses its microphone in your life.
Every word is a whisper of intention, carved in stillness and light.
