Truth-Telling Tuesday: Touch Not My Anointed
Truth-Telling Tuesday dives into what “touch not my anointed” really means - God sees every lie, scheme, and act of control. When people misuse you and your gifts, you don’t have to chase revenge. Live by His commandments, keep your heart clean, and let Him handle the rest.
“God sees what people think they hid.”
That is the whisper for this Truth-Telling Tuesday. For most of my life, I did not walk around calling myself “anointed” or advertising my spiritual gifts. I was the quiet one in the background, loving people, listening deeply, praying behind the scenes, and trusting that those closest to me would protect my heart. Instead, many of them tried to control me, dim me, and use my gifts for their own gain. By the grace of God, my eyes finally opened. And once you see clearly, you cannot unsee.
What “Touch Not My Anointed” Really Means
There is a verse many people like to quote, often out of context: “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
Psalm 105:15 (NIV)
In its original setting, this was God protecting His chosen people - Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph - as they moved through foreign lands. He “allowed no one to oppress them” and even “rebuked kings” on their behalf.
Psalm 105:14–15 (NIV)
It was God’s way of saying: “These are Mine. You don’t get to lay hands on them, derail My plans for them, or harm them without dealing with Me.”
Over time, some leaders turned this into a shield against any accountability - “Don’t question me, I’m God’s anointed.” But the heart of this verse is not about protecting people in power from honest truth; it is about warning anyone who thinks they can spiritually, emotionally, or physically abuse God’s people and slip away untouched. As another passage repeats, “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
1 Chronicles 16:22 (NIV)
When someone lies on you, manipulates you, steals what God placed in you, or tries to destroy your life on purpose, they are not just “messing with a person.” They are setting themselves against something God Himself has placed His hand on. That does not mean you will never be hurt - Jesus made it clear that prophets and faithful ones are often persecuted.
Luke 11:49 (NIV)
But it does mean that every attempt to harm you is seen, weighed, and answered by God in His time.
Living Under Control Versus Living Anointed
I spent many years bending, shrinking, and contorting myself to keep other people comfortable. I let them tell my story. I let them decide who I was allowed to be. I let them “manage” my call, my gifts, even my access to opportunities. Maybe you’ve been there - where your compassion, discernment, or spiritual sensitivity made you useful to others but rarely truly valued.
Then God lifted the veil, and I started seeing patterns: the manipulation, the jealousy, the intentional sabotage, the theft of ideas, the whispered lies to ruin my reputation. It was like watching a spiritual crime scene in hindsight. And I heard God’s quiet, steady voice: “This is not what love looks like. This is not how My anointed are treated.”
The truth is, you do not have to market your anointing for it to be real. You don’t have to monetize your gifts or chase platforms. God knows who He has marked. “You have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
1 John 2:20 (NIV)
And because He knows, anyone who chooses to mistreat you is not just dealing with you - they are dealing with the One who lives in you.
You Cannot Harm God’s Anointed And Live Lightly
This is not about wishing revenge on anyone. It is about telling the truth: you cannot keep putting your hands and your mouth on God’s people and expect to live a carefree, joyful life. Scripture is sober about this. “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
Galatians 6:7 (NIV)
When someone wages a quiet campaign against a person with a pure heart - lying, stealing, slandering, manipulating behind closed doors - they are sowing seeds that will eventually grow into a harvest they will have to face. Jesus said, “There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”
Luke 12:2 (NIV)
That means:
- The lies told in group chats will surface.
- The false stories whispered in boardrooms will be exposed.
- The schemes designed in secret will be dragged into the light.
They may spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders, not because you cursed them, but because their own conscience and God’s justice will not let them rest until truth is dealt with. That is between them and God. Your assignment is not to chase them; it is to walk clean, guard your peace, and keep your hands free of revenge. “Do not repay anyone evil for evil… Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:17, 21 (NIV)
Touch Not My Anointed… And Keep My Commandments
Here is the part we do not talk about enough: the same God who says “Do not touch my anointed ones” also calls all of us to live by His commandments. Jesus summarized them with crystal clarity:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:37–40 (NIV)
When you love God, you do not weaponize Scripture to control or silence people. When you love your neighbor, you do not:
- Bear false witness.
- Steal their ideas or opportunities.
- Manipulate their emotions.
- Use their secrets as ammunition.
Those actions directly violate God’s commands. “You shall not steal… You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.”
Exodus 20:15–16 (NIV)
“The commandments… are summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no harm to a neighbor.”
Romans 13:9–10 (NIV)
So when someone claims to honor God yet spends their time harming, smearing, and sabotaging one of His children, they are breaking the very commandments they say they believe. It is spiritual fraud. Truth-telling faith refuses to separate “I am anointed” from “I obey God’s voice in how I treat people.”
If You’ve Been The One Hurt
If you’re reading this feeling seen - if your reputation has been attacked, your ideas stolen, your gifts used and then discarded - know this: you are not crazy, and you are not alone. God saw it all. “For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.”
Psalm 1:6 (NIV)
Your job now is to:
- Get somewhere safe - emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually.
- Release the illusion that you can “fix” people who are committed to harming you.
- Let God handle what your name looks like in rooms you’ll never enter.
The same God who protected Joseph when his own brothers sold him, then elevated him in a foreign land, still writes redemptive endings.
Psalm 105:17–22 (NIV)
A Prayer For Truth-Telling Tuesday
Lord,
Thank You for opening my eyes
to what has been done in the dark.
You see every lie told about me,
every idea stolen,
every attempt to control,
silence, or sabotage me.
Thank You that I do not have to fight
for my own anointing.
You are the One who called me,
gifted me,
and set me apart.
Today I release the need
to defend myself in every room.
Guard my heart from bitterness.
Keep my lips from revenge.
Let my life be a testimony
of obedience, integrity, and love.
For those who have harmed me,
I hand them back to You.
Deal with them in Your justice
and in Your mercy.
Teach me to love Your commandments,
to love You with all that I am,
and to love my neighbor
without allowing abuse.
Lead me into safe spaces,
honest community,
and bold, truthful living
that honors the anointing You placed on my life.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Truth-Telling Tuesday whisper to carry with you:
“You don’t have to announce your anointing or chase justice. I see who touched you and how. Walk in My commandments, keep your heart clean, and let Me handle the rest.”
With truth, courage, and grace,

🎧 Frequency Feature: Really Really
Really Really carries the same unfiltered honesty as this Truth-Telling Tuesday. Kevin Gates is basically saying, “I’m exactly who I say I am - check the fruit, not the rumors,” which mirrors this blog’s call to let God defend His anointed, keep your character clean, and stop letting people who secretly hate your calling control your narrative. The song’s energy of standing firm in your truth, despite jealousy and quiet opposition, fits the message that those who lie on you and mishandle you will answer to God, while you keep walking in obedience and integrity “for real, for real.”
