Truth Telling Tuesday: When Gaslighting Meets The God Of Truth
Truth Telling Tuesday is the moment you stand in the light and let your words recalibrate the room. This image captures a soul breathing truth into gaslit darkness, reminding every nervous system watching that you are not crazy and reality is allowed to be spoken out loud.
Beautiful Souls,
There are weeks when truth feels like a battlefield.
Not because you are lying, but because you are surrounded by people and systems that insist their version of your story is the only “truth” allowed.
If you have lived through narcissistic abuse, you know this intimately. Gaslighting is not just someone being “difficult.” It is a sustained strategy to make you doubt your perception, your memory, and eventually your sanity so that you learn to rely on the abuser for “reality.”
Truth Telling Tuesday is our counter‑strategy.
It is the day we remember that God is the God of truth and that the enemy is called “the father of lies”.
When Your Nervous System Has Been Lied To
Living under gaslighting, spiritual manipulation, and coordinated smear campaigns does not just confuse your mind. It rewires your nervous system.
Trauma‑informed work explains that emotional abuse and chronic stress can leave survivors hypervigilant, exhausted, and disconnected from their own internal signals. When every reaction you have is labeled “too sensitive” or “crazy,” your body starts to question its own alarms.
You feel:
- A knot in your stomach before a conversation and assume you are overreacting.
- Your heart race when you see their name on your phone and tell yourself, “I am being dramatic.”
- Scattered, foggy, and numb after interactions and decide you must simply be weak.
Truth Telling Tuesday speaks to that body and says:
“You are not weak. You are responding to real harm. Your nervous system has been lied to about what is dangerous, and we are going to start telling it the truth.”
Jesus says:
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
We often quote that verse as a spiritual slogan. Today, let it also be a trauma slogan. Knowing the truth about what you survived is part of what sets your body free from the cage of self‑doubt.
The Lie Has A Father. So Does The Truth.
In John 8, Jesus is blunt:
“You belong to your father, the devil… He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
John 8:44
Gaslighting and spiritual manipulation often show up coated in religious language or “concern.” But their DNA looks like this verse. They demand control. They distort reality. They attack character. They accuse and confuse.
When you start to see that, something crucial happens:
You stop treating every accusation as a mirror.
You start treating some accusations as spiritual warfare.
Several writers describe spiritual warfare not only as power encounters, but as truth encounters: God’s truth confronting the enemy’s lie. Truth Telling Tuesday is your weekly truth encounter.
You hear the lie:
“Maybe I deserved it.”
“Maybe I am making things up.”
“Maybe I am the problem.”
And you answer, not with shouting, but with Scripture, reality, and quiet courage.
When Telling The Truth Is Spiritual Obedience
Telling the truth about abuse and trauma is not gossip when it is done to heal, to seek safety, and to refuse complicity with lies.
Paul writes:
“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
Ephesians 4:25
Putting off falsehood includes refusing to participate in narratives that erase harm, silence victims, or protect reputations at the expense of reality. In a narcissistic system, you will be pressured to “keep the peace” by keeping quiet. Truth Telling Tuesday says:
“I can be loving and still be honest. I can be Christian and still name abuse. I can belong to the body of Christ and still refuse to lie for its members.”
This does not mean telling everything to everyone. There is a difference between safe truth and unsafe ears.
You are free, in Christ, to:
- Tell the full truth to God, who already knows and never gaslights you.
- Tell the truth to counselors, advocates, and trusted friends who can hold it with care.
- Tell enough truth in public spaces to protect others and break secrecy, without handing your story to people committed to misunderstanding you.
Truth Telling Tuesday gives you permission not to waste your reality on ears that only want ammo.
Re‑Training Your Frequency With Truth
If we stay in a frequency frame, gaslighting is like living under a constant, distorted signal. Your internal “radio” keeps picking up interference. Truth telling is retuning that dial.
Each time you say:
- “No, it really did happen like that.”
- “No, it was abuse, not ‘just a rough patch.’”
- “No, my body’s fear response was reasonable in that situation.”
You are not just defending yourself. You are teaching your nervous system that it is allowed to trust its own experience again.
That is spiritual work. The gospel speaks to trauma by giving you a new identity in Christ that is not defined by your past or your abuser’s words. You are not “the crazy one.” You are beloved, redeemed, and being restored.
Truth Telling Tuesday becomes a weekly liturgy:
- Name one lie that tried to define you this week.
- Write down the actual truth of what happened.
- Pair it with a verse like John 8:32 or Ephesians 4:25, and let your body sit with it until something inside you exhales.
You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
John 8:31-32
Frequency Feature: Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Today’s frequency feature is “Wonderful Tonight”, a soft, romantic ballad Eric Clapton wrote while watching his partner get ready for a night out, noticing every small detail and choosing to tell her, “You look wonderful.” The meaning is simple and powerful: being fully seen, admired, and appreciated in an ordinary moment, without needing to perform or earn it.
As you listen, I want you to treat this song as a frequency reset after weeks of war and gaslighting. Let it remind you that you were designed to be looked at with that kind of tenderness, not suspicion, and that in Christ you are already fully seen, known, and loved. Tonight, receive “Wonderful Tonight” as a sonic reminder that your presence is a gift, your scars do not cancel your beauty, and you are allowed to be cherished in the small, ordinary minutes of your life.
For The One Who Is Afraid Of Their Own Story
If the thought of telling the truth about your season makes you shake, remember this:
God is not threatened by your reality.
He is not worried that your story will ruin His reputation.
He chose to step into history, into scars, into injustice, and let the truth of what was done to Him be seen.
Truth Telling Tuesday is not about blasting every detail online. It is about drawing a line inside yourself and saying:
“From now on, we tell the truth here. My heart, my body, my story will not be gaslit anymore.”
And as you do, you are not alone. You are walking with the One who called Himself “the way and the truth and the life.”
John 14:6
The father of lies does not get to keep writing your narrative. The God of truth does.
That is Truth Telling Tuesday.

EugeniasThoughts: Tonight I am choosing to believe that my nervous system is not crazy, it is recovering from lies. Truth Telling Tuesday is my quiet agreement with Jesus that the truth I keep naming with Him is the same truth that is setting me free.
Every word is a whisper of intention, carved in stillness and light.
