You Are Not Too Much, You Are Not Behind

There have been times in my life when I felt like I wasn’t enough.
Moments when I wondered if who I was at my core was somehow lacking.
Looking back, I realize that part of that pain came
because I was relying too much on others for my happiness,
instead of finding that happiness within myself.
I had placed my worth in external hands,
and when those hands couldn’t hold it,
I felt like I was the one who broke.
I have also carried the weight of feeling behind in life.
In my twenties, I often felt ahead,
moving faster or achieving more than many around me.
But in my thirties, I started looking sideways,
comparing myself to what everyone else was building, achieving, or becoming.
And slowly, a quiet voice of doubt crept in,
telling me I should be further by now, that I should be more.
It took time, but eventually, I realized a simple truth.
Just because something looks good from the outside
does not mean it is happy or healthy behind the scenes.
We cannot compare ourselves to others
because we are all on our own solo journey.
When we are caught in self-judgment
about our pace, our progress, or our personality,
the first thing we need to do is slow down
and take a breath.
This moment is not forever.
And no matter where you stand right now,
you do have control over your decisions and habits.
You have the ability to shape your future
into something you cannot even fully imagine yet.
You have to believe in that version of yourself.
You have to seek it out,
and you will guide yourself toward it.
If I were sitting across from you,
and you were in tears because you felt unworthy or left behind,
I would tell you this:
You are seen.
You are loved.
These feelings will pass.
And then I would remind you of every beautiful thing about you,
all the strength you have already shown,
all the goodness you carry,
and all the small wins you have overlooked.
You are not too much.
You are not behind.
You are exactly where you need to be
to take the next small step forward.
Final Whisper
Your timeline is yours.
Your pace is yours.
Your path is yours.
And you are allowed to live it with love,
without apology,
and without comparison.
